Funding

Funding for food research comes partly from the universities' own allocations and partly from various research-funding bodies. The Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agricultural Sciences and Spatial Planning (FORMAS) has the responsibility for co-ordinating the more basic food research. The Swedish Business Development Agency (NUTEK) contributes with the state's share of basic funding to the state industrial research institutes, among which is SIK. Several other bodies contribute funds to a greater of lesser degree.
