The objective of ecological food production is to combine environmentally friendly and sustainable production, good animal management, safe and healthy food, while enabling the farmer to run a viable business. This is an ambitious target and sometimes there can be problems accommodating all interests. In ecological production certain chemical aids are banned. The debate between advocates of ecological and conventional farming has at times been heated. Opinions are divided about what exactly are the best forms of production.
Project since 2002
Food in Sweden has received financial support from the Swedish Board of Agriculture in order to inform mainly young people about ecological production and ecological food. We cooperate with the Agricultural Societies in central Sweden as well as other Agricultural Societies in Sweden.

On our web site Ecological Food we want to bring together information related to ecological food that is available on the Internet. In addition to our own fact pages and reports, we present projects, research, news and links to authorities, organisations and companies.
Ecological food meetings
We arrange "Ecological food meetings" for upper secondary school students, teachers, and those working in large-scale kitchens. On these meetings we provide information about ecological production throughout the entire chain from soil to table. Ingela Hallberg and Gunilla Nelander are responsible for the food meetings.
