Öströö Lamb farm
28th of September (after the conference)
Also the field trip to Öströö Lamb farm starts directly after the
conference.
Öströö has a population of
about 400 ewes of the Gotland sheep breed. We also have 15 highland cattle.
We work a total of about 100 hectares on Öströö, as well as some adjacent
farms. The entire farm has been run organically since 1990
From our butchery, we sell all of the farms produce directly to the
consumer.
We also manufacture a range of pickles, jellies etc. Additionally we take
care of hides, which sell well in our handicraft shop. The business has
developed over the years, and today we have a fully-licensed restaurant,
café and conference facilities. We arrange snaps tastings, lamb safaris, sheep
shows and other activities. In October 2001, we built our farm abattoir and
now have the entire chain from animal rearing to final product.
